How to Enable Plain Text Password on Windows for Connecting to Samba Server

Plain text password is necessary for Windows Machine to access services through Samba Like File Share or Printer
By default Samba uses unencrypted passwords. You can’t connect to Samba servers from a Windows machine with encrypted passwords ( By Default Windows uses Encrypted Passwords to Connect SMB server )
If you are trying to connect to Samba server with Windows Client on which Encrypted Password option is enabled, you may get below error.
“You are not authorized to access resource from this machine”.
You can either configure your Samba server to use encrypted passwords, or configure the Windows machines to use unencrypted passwords.
This Article will Help you Configure Windows to Use unencrypted Password
Click on Start>Run>Type gpedit.msc and hit enter in the Run Box
Group Policy Editor will open, Navigate under Computer Configuration to Windows Settings then to
Security Settings
Under the Security Setting, click the plus sign next to
Local Policies to expand it.
Double-click Security Options.
On the Right Pane, Scroll down and Search for Microsoft network client Category
Double-click on ‘Microsoft network client: Send unencrypted passwords to connect to third-party SMB servers’
Click the Enabled radio button.
Click OK.
Close the Local Security Settings Window.
Restart you Windows Machine
