somebody asked a question about 'ArchLinux vs Debian'. Here is what we believe is interesting and worth knowing about ArchLinux project.

Here are some points to consider:

An overview of the Arch Linux project

pacman (binary) + makepkg (AUR) == all packages .deb

Arch Linux has package groups Arch Linux - Package Groups

anytime you want to update your system (sudo pacman -S -y - u)

Sanity and Pragmatism over Drama and Ideology.

Functionality is made available as an option / as a new update with coolness (cf. systemd update in 2012 Install medium 2012.10.06 introduces systemd). please see Debian Feb 2014 update Bug#727708: call for votes on default Linux init system for jessie (enabled by default in Debian in April 2015).

What i appreciate the most about ArchLinux project, is that, it doesn’t try to outsmart the Upstream project or mutate the artifacts. Instead, the belief is that the upstream project team knows the best and one should contribute patches to them.

This creative co-operation is the essence of working with an open mind on an open source project.

Please take a look at how the Arch Linux project solicits contributions from interested folks at Getting involved
