SAProuter isan SAP program that acts to protect your SAP network against unauthorizedaccess.

Installing SAProuter

Use

The followingdescribes how to install SAProuter. On UNIX, SAProuter is installed as a daemon. OnWindows it is installed as a service.

Procedure

Download

You will find the latest SAProuter inthe SAP Service Marketplace under Download SAPSoftware → <Support Packages& Patches>,


service.sap.com/patches .

On the Support Packages andPatches page choose links in navigation barEntry by ApplicationGroup, and then
Additional Components → SAPROUTER→ SAPROUTER 7.00 →<Platform>.

Here you will find the saprouterpacket.

Installation

How you install the SAProuter depends onthe operating system you are using. Choose the appropriate method:

Installation onUNIX

Installation onWindows

Installation oniSeries

Installation on UNIX

1. Create thesubdirectory saprouter in the directory /usr/sap/.

Get thelatest version of the SAProuter from the SAP Service Marketplace (service.sap.com/patches), as described underInstallation
of thSAProuter. The SAProuter isin packet saprouter*.SAR; the program niping is also in this packet. Copy programs saprouter and niping to the newly created directory /usr/sap/saprouter.

If you cannotcopy the programs from SAP Service Marketplace, you can copy a version (may beobsolete) from your directory /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run.

2. (Optional) If youwant to start the SAProuter on the same computer used for an SAP instance,insert the following line into file /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run/startsap:

Insert thelines before the commands to start the SAP instance.

Normally theSAProuter runs on a different computer. If this is so, this step is omitted and you startthe SAProuter as described inStarting
theSAProuter.

Maintain the
route permissiontable in directory /usr/sap/saprouter. If you want to keep it in another directory or undera name other than saprouttab, you must specify this with the SAProuter option-R(seeOption
R<routtab>).
