Are Osworkflow and Activiti based on Finite State Machine(FSM)?

It is not uncommon that you come across some Chinese materials saying Osworkflow is based on FSM. I doubted that really!

Today, I read Activiti in Action for the first pages, the author also states that Activiti is a state machine in essence, which shook my doubt badly.

According to wikipedia, FSM couldn't support concurrency mathematically, whereas Petri Net has that ability. I have to learn more math!
