打算一词,译法太多. 只要是"经过思考而决定要做的事", 都可以表达这个意思.口语中常用 to be going to,would like to do 结构, 只用will也可以。其它的词,如: decide, plane, think about 等等,都可以用。但want这词太中性,没有偏重的意义表达。用在口语里,语气比较生硬。 所以使用较少。

而“运动”一词,词义偏重的不同,也选择使用。Sport 是中性词,athletics 和田径有关,calisthenics 则和体形有关,属于健美的那种,exercise 则指活动活动,简单的休操或户外运动。与球类有关,就要用play了。

的解说:
两个都用于现在时,并没有时态的区别,只是前者指“可能的事”,后者是“不可能的事”。所以前者表达“合理的”、“理所当然的”意思,更进一点,就是“还是…的好”
后者不同,看第758句,throw your money away是谁也不干的蠢事,而spend it in gambling也是愚不可及。表示两件事的程度相当。由于作用在于加强否定,就采用“与其这样,还不如那样的好”类似的说法有had better, rather…than等。后面会碰到。

“lest ….should”
这两个表现方法,都是表达目的。“lest…should”的用法较古,且带有否定的意思。现在多用”for fear that”来代替了,也可能用in case…should来表达,只不过在现代口语中,常把should省去不用,只用动词原型。如:Take care lest you fall,当心不要跌倒。 “that….may”也有古文的味道, “in order that…may”则是现在的表达方法。So as not to…也很普遍。

“cannot but…原形不定式”
在cannot help…中的help,意思是“避免”,可用“avoid”,“resist”, “forbear”等来代替,同义的说法还有“cannot keep(refrain, abstain) from -ing”。Cannot but 的表达方法,听起来有点“文言文”的味道。其中的but=except,意为:除了那件事以外,什么也不能做。

这是一个很常用的结构。在这个结构中,有三种意思,1)表达主语的意志,2)表达的意思与主语无关;3)保持一种被动状态。

在791句中,表达了主语的意志,即修表是我要去修的,是使动,修表不是我做,是我让别人做的。所以不是主语的意志,被动。

我找人把我的表修理好了。

在792句中,把表弄破是我不想干的事,

793句中表达的则是另一个意思。

这个结构有两种解释:凡在主语无意识之下发生的事,用作被动;若主语有意志在的话,就是使动含义。何时为被动,何时为使动,要看前后文才能决定。但有时从助动词上能看行出来。

“would rather+原形不定式”

第一句有劝告的意思,译为:最好如何如何,有时也可以说成had best。第二句有选择的意思,译为宁肯,二者不可混,如果加上了than,这个意思就更明显了。
