Pinterest竟成了Google的敌人？

根据 Pinterest 公司本周一发布的电子邮件，Pinterest 网站上现在有接近 10 亿个“位置图钉（Place Pins）”。这封电子邮件的发出也预示着 Pinterest 离成为像 Google 这样真正的搜索引擎又近了一步。

不过现在 Pinterest 的位置图钉还是不如 Google Maps 给力，也不太可能超越 Google Maps。但是对于想要周游其他地方的用户来说，Pinterest 的位置图钉功能可以帮助他们在屏幕前就周游列国，赏遍世间美景。

“位置图钉”是 Pinterest 的一项功能增强服务，也就是在 Pinterest 的图片上加入一个位置元数据。Pinterest 的位置图钉服务由 Foursquare 驱动，在具有位置图钉的图片上，用户可以直接进入地图进行查看。Pinboard（图钉板）可以随机收集旅游热点地的图片，比如说可以帮助用户随机生成一个全球沙滩的美景图，用户看到心仪的沙滩时便可以在地图上获得当地的更多信息。

Pinterest 式的两难题目

Pinterest 视觉搜索引擎由数百万用户共同创造，其内容由最相关的用户来负责管理。但是 Pinterest 的服务器上现在有几十亿张图片，这么巨大的数据量光靠用户是不可能完成的。

位置图钉只是 Pinterest 使用这些海量数据的一种方法，它主题相关的元数据联系在一起，然后根据用户的搜索提供相关的内容。Pinterest 有一项 Rich Pins 服务，它不仅是一张图片，还带有文字介绍或其他元数据，Pinterest 的服务器还将根据这些信息进行分类。

在 Pinterest 和其他视觉网站出现之前，我们普遍认为网络就是一个以文字为主的地方，用户输入文本、按下搜索，然后得到一些相关的结果，这些都是以文字为载体的。在 Pinterest 上，用户键入的文字将变成相关联的图像结果，而且图片结果并不会丧失文字的意义。

到目前为止，Pinterest 正尝试通过垂直化以及增加图片图钉元数据种类（比如地理位置信息）等方法来提高搜索质量。在理想状态下，用户输入“Europe（欧洲）”后得到的不再是这个品牌的背包图片，而是欧洲的风景、文化照片。

有人也许会问：“这又怎样？Google 也有自己的视觉搜索引擎。”但是 Pinterest 的独特之处就在于，它不仅仅是一个视觉搜索引擎，更是一个由用户参与打造的视觉搜索引擎。这就意味着在 Rich Pin 图片上加入更多元数据的用户越多，Pinterest 的搜索结果更精准。
